Where would we be without Friends?

Did you know that if it weren’t for the Chester Library Friends, you wouldn’t be able to borrow a DVD to take home to watch with your family? And your children wouldn’t have a summertime reading program? And that pass that provided free admission for your family to the Wadsworth Atheneum wouldn’t exist?

Just as none of us wants a life without friends, your Chester Public Library can’t thrive without its Friends.

The Friends fund programs and services for the Chester Library that are not paid for in the town budget. Book discussion groups for adults, materials for children’s story hours and programs, all museum and attraction passes, all DVDs and CDs – they’re all paid for by the Friends of the Chester Library.

The Friends need you! We need your membership and your support to help us keep funding our library’s programs and services.  With your involvement, we could expand our offerings. We could host more author readings and more children’s and adult programs. We could help make improvements to the library or offer more volunteer assistance to our librarians.

Andrew Carnegie said, “A library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people.” What would you like our Chester Library to do to benefit the people of Chester? Get involved — become a Library Friend. Your monetary support in any amount is welcome; your volunteer support is invaluable. Your suggestions are encouraged.
